Circle Logistics has hired Baraka Nevels as vice president of branch development, the company announced Sept. 8. Nevels will lead growth strategy and operational performance across the Fort Wayne, Indiana-based 3PL’s branch network, which spans 32 U.S. locations.

Nevels has 28 years of logistics and supply chain leadership experience covering truckload, less-than-truckload, managed transportation and cross-border freight. According to Circle, he has overseen more than $360 million in annual revenue and posted contribution margins above 55%, with annual market share growth of more than 20% and a 98% client retention rate.

In the new role, Nevels will work with branch leaders on hiring and coaching and will manage key shipper and carrier relationships. Circle said it expects the hire to improve performance at existing branches and support new openings.

“I’ve never believed you have to choose between growth and profitability,” Nevels said. “Twenty-eight years in this business taught me you get both, or you’re not managing it right.”

Eric Fortmeyer and Chad Buchanan founded Circle Logistics in 2011. The privately held company operates 75 power units and more than 200 trailers and serves customers in automotive, manufacturing, construction, retail, healthcare and food-grade freight.
