Mariner Logistics Names Justin Turner CEO

Thursday, Jul 23, 2026

Mariner Logistics has named Justin Turner as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, the Coppell, Texas-based asset-backed 4PL announced.

Turner arrives with close to two decades in transportation and logistics leadership, most of it spent inside companies going through rapid scale-up. He spent seven years at Coyote Logistics, a stretch that included a central role in the freight brokerage’s $1.8 billion sale to UPS. From there he moved into a VP of Sales role at GlobalTranz, then led sales and customer success at Atlanta-based STORD during a run of 15x growth. As Chief Revenue Officer at Flock Freight, Turner helped take the company from roughly $10 million in revenue to more than $500 million while it raised upward of $400 million in venture funding. Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at Terawatt, an EV-charging infrastructure company for Class 8 trucks backed by roughly $1 billion in capital. Turner’s career in logistics began in the U.S. Army.

Turner takes over a company that has spent the past several months building out the technology layer behind its brokerage and warehousing operations. That work has taken on added weight since the Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, LLC, which opened brokers up to negligent-selection lawsuits under state law and stripped away the blanket federal preemption defense many had relied on. In response, Mariner rolled out the Sentinel Protocol, a multi-source carrier and driver verification process applied to every load the company coordinates, designed to leave a documented, timestamped trail of due diligence that shippers and their insurers can point to.

That verification layer now sits alongside Vibe Engine, an AI system built with Vibe Software that plugs into shippers’ existing TMS and ERP platforms to automate spot freight procurement, carrier matching and shipment coordination. Both tools feed into Mariner Live, the company’s real-time visibility platform, which Mariner positions as the connective layer tying verification, automated matching and shipment tracking into one system.

In a statement, Turner pointed to the combination of capacity pressure and rising legal exposure now facing shippers, saying “Mariner is built for exactly that moment.”

Mariner operates more than 300 owned tractors and 800 owned trailers alongside 1 million square feet of warehouse space, with operations centered in Coppell, Texas and Clinton, Mississippi. The company serves shippers across healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, government and technology.
